Arenas hit back at Barkley: How did you perform in your 40-year-old final season? You are not qualified to belittle Old James

Basketball

May 5th News Recently, former NBA player Gilbert Arenas refuted Charles Barkley's remarks on his personal podcast "Gil'sArena".

Charles Barkley said: "If LeBron and the Lakers lost to the Timberwolves in this series, I would never want to hear any discussion about LeBron being the top five players in history."

In response, Gilbert responded: "I heard that Charles Barkley said, 'If you are 40 and lose this series, you are not the top five players.' Then what was he doing when he was 40? How did he perform in the final season? He played in Houston, his figure was out of shape, and complained about trying to exercise on the treadmill. These people sat there evaluating others, but actually just wanted to find a way to belittle others.

"You were not at this level at the age of 40, 38, and 36, and you were not qualified to compare and not qualified to express your opinions. I can say that if you are KD (Durant), Curry, and you perform this way at this age, you can say your trash talk. You old guys, you are not these guys at that age, and you can't make such data at all, so you are not qualified to belittle them.

"You should be like we did before, in the final season of Dirk (Nowitzki), he looked like a tin man on the court. We were all applauding him and appreciating his last season. Steve Nash was in a bad waist, we were appreciating him. In the final season of Jordan, we were all amazed, we didn't care how he played, he scored 20 points and was comparable to winning the championship."
