Hupu News on October 24 According to previous reports, Split, who served as the Trail Blazers assistant coach, became the Trail Blazers' acting coach.

Beiqing Sports issued an article stating: Split has a better understanding of Yang Hansen's situation and may be able to better understand his "instructions for use."

The original text is as follows:

On October 24, just after the opening game of the new season, the Trail Blazers received bad news: head coach Billups was arrested on suspicion of illegal gambling (currently on bail). Relevant cases are under investigation, and it is currently impossible to determine whether Billups will go to jail. But what is certain is that Billups' coaching with the Trail Blazers has basically come to an end.

Currently, the Trail Blazers have announced that Split, who previously served as an assistant coach, will become the team's acting coach. Split was an insider as a player and played in the NBA for a total of 7 years. After retiring, he gradually transitioned into coaching, serving as an assistant with the Nets and Rockets. Last season, he served as the head coach of a French Ligue 1 team and led the team to win the championship. Before this season, the Trail Blazers chose Split in the hope that he could provide more training to the team's insiders Klingen and Yang Hansen and help them accelerate their growth. Considering Split's hasty appointment and the Blazers' overall training plan for young insiders, it is foreseeable that the change of coach will not have a big change in Yang Hansen's training trajectory in the short term.

Splitter was selected by the Spurs with the 28th overall pick in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft. He played for the Spurs for five seasons, winning the NBA championship with the team in 2014, and then played for the Hawks (2015-16) and 76ers (2016-17). Split's talent and inside skills are not among the top ranks, but he is a suitable inside type. After retiring, Split transitioned into coaching. He played for the Nets for five seasons, serving as an assistant coach from 2019 to 2023. In the 2018-19 season, he served as a professional scout and was responsible for on-court training-related matters.

Split will serve as the Rockets' assistant coach in the 2023-24 season, mainly responsible for the technical improvement of the team's insiders such as Shen Jing and Jabari Smith Jr. It may be this experience that led the Trail Blazers to hire him as the team's assistant coach before this season.

After coming to the Trail Blazers, Split mainly trained insiders such as Klingen and Yang Hansen. He recognized Yang Hansen's talent. During the summer league, Split once said of Yang Hansen: "Yang Hansen is definitely a good passer, but he still has to get used to the rhythm of the NBA game. His body needs to become stronger. He needs to get used to this rhythm and be able to play at high intensity for about 10 minutes. But we have seen his talent and potential, and he has a great touch."

Split was appointed as the team's acting coach this time. Since he has a better understanding of Yang Hansen's situation, he may be able to better grasp his "instructions for use" and maximize Yang Hansen's strengths. From this perspective, this may be beneficial to Yang Hansen's development.

At the same time, the Trail Blazers' training plan for Yang Hansen has always been gradual. This will not change significantly because of the head coach's adjustment. But there is no doubt that the new coach's coaching must be different from that of his predecessor, which Yang Hansen needs to learn and adjust as soon as possible.
