Celtic boss: Some players families are not allowed to participate in the 24-year championship parade, and the latter is always criticized
July 5th When the Celtics won the 2024 NBA championship, there were rumors that Perkins was banned from celebrating with the team. As a basketball commentator, Perkins has become a more outspoken figure in the NBA media in recent years. In a recent podcast hosted by former Celtic defender Jeff Teague, Celtics boss Grossbeck confirmed that Perkins was not popular with the players' families at the time.
"I like Perkins very much, and he really wasn't invited to the championship parade at the time, and that's true. Because he's been criticizing people. You know, some of the players' families said 'If that guy was in the parade they wouldn't be there,'" Grossbeck said.
Perkins was a core member of the Celtics' championship in 2008.
