Famous reporter: Rockets plan to apply for injury exception due to VanVleet s injury, the amount can reach $12.5 million

On October 28, famous journalist Kelly Iko reported that sources told Yahoo Sports that the Rockets plan to apply for an injury exception because of VanVleet's torn ACL ligament.

According to the current labor agreement, if the application is successful, the amount of the hardship exception will be 50% of Van Fleet's salary of 25 million, which is US$12.5 million.

The injury exception is a special clause that allows a team to exceed the salary cap to sign, trade or claim a player to replace his position when a player is unable to play for a long time due to a serious injury (season reimbursement).

To put it simply, it gives the team an "extra" salary space and quota to make up for the loss caused by a core player's season reimbursement.
