June 15th Lakers reporter Dave McMenamin talked about the team's situation.
DaveMcMenamin said Jazz center Kessler is still an interested player in the Lakers, and the Lakers believe he can fill the team's vacancy in the center position. If the trade happens, the Lakers' main chips may be Kneckett and the first round of 2031.
DaveMcMenamin also said that teams and the Lakers would ask for the chips in Kneckett and the first round of 31 years when discussing most trades, just like the Hornets did when trading Mark Williams this year's trading deadline.
Before this year's trading deadline, the Lakers made a deal, giving away the rights to swap Kneckett + Reddish + 2031 unprotected first round and 2030 first round picks, and got Mark Williams.
