The Kings are interested in introducing a good point guard, so why do they send Fox to the Spurs?

According to NBA reporter Grant Afseth, the Sacramento Kings are interested in finding a long-term solution at the point guard position this summer. They have expressed a strong interest in Darius Garland of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks.

Afseth said: The Kings would like to introduce a strong point guard this summer. At the end of the season, they tried to use Malik Monk as point guard, but the actual results were not particularly ideal. The team realized that they needed a real on-field commander because the team was still re-adjusting the lineup after trading De 'Aaron Fox. Afseth continued: The Kings' new head coach Scott Perry said on a podcast: Given the current talent in the Kings lineup, it is no secret that the team needs a real point guard. And, in my opinion, it’s no secret that we need to add more players with height, arm length and athleticism to the front line if we want to strengthen our existing roster.

In the NBA regular season this season, Garland played 75 games in 82 games, averaging 30.7 minutes per game, averaging 20.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 0.1 blocks, and 2.5 turnovers and 1.9 fouls. He shot 47.2%, three-point shooting percentage 40.1%, and free throw shooting percentage 87.8%. During the playoffs, Garland played 5 games in 9 games, averaging 29.6 minutes per game, with 18 points, 2.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 0.4 steals per game, 3 turnovers and 3.4 fouls, with a shooting percentage of 42%, three-point shooting percentage of 28.6%, and 91.7% free throw shooting percentage. In the NBA regular season this season, Young played 76 games in 82 games, averaging 36 minutes per game, averaging 24.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 11.6 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.2 blocks, and 4.7 turnovers and 1.9 fouls, with a shooting percentage of 41.1%, a three-point shooting percentage of 34%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 87.5%.

Garland and Yang are of course both No. 1 players with great strength, but the problem is that they are better than Fox in terms of ability. Although Fox is not the best No. 1 player in the league, and although there is a difference between Garland and Yang in terms of style and characteristics, he is actually not inferior to Garland and Yang in terms of strength. Since there is no gap in ability, and since you are interested in Garland and Yang now, why did you send Fox away before? I had a long round and wanted a point guard again. Is this operation too outrageous?
