Warriors predict to sign previous year s Rookie

Basketball

According to US sports media F/W reporter Sidante Gupta. The Warriors have put forward positive outlooks on roster construction during the offseason. But with free agent opening and offseason going smoothly, management has not made any major position upgrades. The Warriors’ current dilemma in line-building can be largely attributed to some pending decisions that require to be made on the players on the roster. Restricted free agent Kumingga is one of the assets the team has been working hard to deal with.

Kuminga's requirements for the Warriors are not easily met. But it turns out that making a deal for him is also a challenge, as the team has been reluctant to pursue restricted free agents. As these factors become obstacles in the way, Golden State is trapped in place, and the longer they wait, the more troublesome the situation becomes. Instead, management can consider making smaller additions in free agents to improve their current roster. Given that the team intends to build around the core of Curry, Butler and Green, the prospect can be considered relatively positive, as these changes do not require overhaul. The free agent market has not been team-friendly so far, but the Warriors can still explore some options. Given their decision to move from the usual “small ball” approach, previous year’s rookies could be considered as potential candidates.

Simmons' availability in the free agent market is a positive signal, especially for teams like Golden State. Given Green's role as a defensive expert and facilitator, Simmons can be well behind the forward as a substitute. The 6-foot-10 defender has been working hard to find a steady form in the league since he first played for the Philadelphia 76ers. While his brief play with the Brooklyn Nets inspired some confidence in his performance recovery, injuries and instability left him out of the game.

Simmons ended the 2024-25 season with the Clippers. As a substitute for the team, he averaged 2.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. But it’s also important to note that he has very little playing time, with an average of only 16.4 minutes per game. Needless to say, Simmons' strength is not his scoring ability. While his organizational abilities certainly require more attention, the 28-year-old showed a greater advantage as a defensive player. At 6 feet 10 inches he has excellent athleticism and amazing length. His agility allows him to stand in front of most defenders in the league, and his height and strength help him gain a foothold when facing larger players in the frontcourt.

Simmons' potential to be a contributor on the Warriors' bench is enormous. The real challenge is his health and motivation throughout the season. While inspiring leaders like Curry and Green, as well as coaches like Cole, should get players to their best, concerns about his athleticism remain. As a free agent, the 28-year-old can still be promoted, especially given his contract is very team-friendly. The Warriors have several ways to use it, including signing him to improve the team's strength by the middle class.
