On May 17, according to TMZ Sports, 32-year-old Timberwolves center Gobert broke up with his pregnant girlfriend at the beginning of the NBA playoffs, asking the other party to move out of his residence and take away his 1-year-old son. Sources close to the family of Timberwolves players said that the breakdown of the relationship was surprising - after all, during the Timberwolves' last regular season game on April 13, Gobert's girlfriend Bornilla appeared on the field with her son Romeo. After the game, the 32-year-old Gobert stepped forward and hugged the mother and son enthusiastically. The family seemed to be normal. However, sources revealed that after Bornilla was pregnant with his second child, the relationship between the two took a sharp turn, and now Gobert has returned to being single. According to reports, Bonilla hopes to move back to France after the breakup, but Gobert wants her and Romeo to stay in the United States so that the Timberwolves will negotiate the issue of child support after the Timberwolves season. Gobert has hired a lawyer and his team put pressure on the woman to stay in Minnesota.

In March 2024, just before Gobert's eldest son was born, he publicly stated that welcoming a new life was a "gift from God." Previously, Bornilla also publicly supported the French basketball star many times, and even posted a message to support him when he was voted as "the most overrated player in the league" by his peers.

Currently Gobert is playing in the playoffs with the Timberwolves. The inside player played a key role in the team's series of eliminating the Lakers and Warriors.

TMZ Sports has contacted the Gobert team, and its agent Ndiaye responded that the company "has no intention to accept interviews with TMZ Sports for any client matters."

Gobert played 72 regular season games for the Timberwolves this season, averaging 12 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. So far, he has played in the 10 playoff games, averaging 8.9 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.
