Afghan media: World Cup champion goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is waiting for a chance to join Manchester United

Football

According to multiple media reports, Aston Villa's main goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has received multiple offers in the transfer market this summer. The Argentine national goal is mentally prepared to leave Villa Park Stadium this summer.

According to Argentine media Bolavip, Martinez is currently paying close attention to the trends from Manchester United and hopes that the Red Devils can submit their official offer as soon as possible. Although Galatasaray also showed strong interest in him, Martinez was more inclined to join Manchester United and return to the top Premier League stage.

However, so far, Manchester United has not yet made a formal offer. Only on the premise of successfully selling Andre Onana will Manchester United truly advance its signing plan for Martinez.

Onana has been criticized for the past season, but his contract with Manchester United is still three years away, and no other club has clearly expressed his willingness to acquire it for the time being. This also allows Manchester United to remain a wait-and-see attitude on the issue of introducing new goalkeepers.

Last season, Martinez played 53 games for Aston Villa, including 16 of which were clean sheets, showing the level of a top goalkeeper. Unfortunately, Villa was eventually overtaken by Newcastle United and missed the Champions League qualification next season.

This result also forced the club to reassess the financial situation. In order to comply with the Premier League’s financial sustainability regulations, Villa must balance the accounts by selling players. They had previously sold Douglas Louis, and this year's focus was Martinez. It is estimated that the Argentine goalkeeper's transfer fee will be between 20 million and 30 million euros.

In Villa's last home game, Martinez waved goodbye to the fans emotionally and shed tears. When asked about Martinez's future, coach Emery just responded lightly: "Let's see."

As the summer transfer window advances, whether Manchester United will take action and whether Onana can leave the team smoothly will become the key factors that determine the direction of this transfer.
