After Flick and Deco meet, Barcelona s summer window plan may be adjusted

Barcelona are considering making adjustments to the original summer transfer plan after head coach Hans Flick held in-depth talks with football director Deco to comprehensively evaluate the team's goals and future strategy.

Chairman Laporta has made it clear that the club will work hard to retain midfield core Frankie DeJong and main striker Rafinia. At the same time, he also confirmed that some players will leave this summer to optimize the lineup structure and meet the requirements of fiscal equity policies. Deco’s mission is to improve the level of competition in each position and create a more competitive roster for the new season.

One of the most eye-catching changes at the moment is Eric Garcia's strong performance. The young centre-back showed great adaptability in multiple positions, being competent as a centre-back and playing as a midfielder, and showing excellent stability in right-back positions – even with Jules Conde away.

This has greatly reduced Barcelona's demand for introducing additional right backs, and also provided more flexibility for the coaching staff in tactical arrangements.

On the offensive end, despite its outstanding performance this season, Barcelona is still seeking a left winger with creativity and breakthrough ability to further enhance the depth of the frontcourt. Nico Williams is still the main target, followed by Liverpool striker Luis Díaz. However, given the financial constraints, the club is also looking at some young talents with great potential, such as Yané Garrido, Tony Fernandes and Dani Rodríguez, hoping they can take the lead next season. In terms of the defense line, the current choice of full-back positions is relatively limited. Last season, 18-year-old Hector Fort didn’t get much chance, and Garcia will continue to be Conde’s main rotation on the right wing unless he achieves breakthrough growth in the preseason.

And on the left, despite Gavi Martín's rotation with Alejandro Balde, this side is still seen as a weak link in the defense line. Deco must seriously weigh the trade-offs: When both Barde and Conde both have hidden dangers of injury, whether the stability of the defensive system is more important than the offensive diversity in the frontcourt.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Barcelona is gradually clarifying the direction of team building. Whether it is a pragmatic adjustment in the signing strategy or the strengthening of trust in youth training forces, it will affect whether this traditional giant can regain the ranks of top competitors in the new season.
