Former Arsenal player Thomas, charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, has now been approved by the court for conditional bail.

The 32-year-old Canadian player appeared in court on Tuesday and appeared in Westminster District Court, accused of committing five rapes on two women and a sexual assault on a third woman.

These suspected criminal acts occurred during his time at Arsenal, specifically between 2021 and 2022. Thomas was formally prosecuted four days after his contract with Arsenal expired at the end of June and left the team. His next appearance is scheduled for September 2 and will be held on Old Berry Street, Central Criminal Court.

Thomas entered the courtroom Tuesday wearing a black zippered neck sweater and black pants, holding a dark blue blazer. In the dock, he stood behind his back with his hands, and made a brief statement to confirm his name and confirmed that he had understood the bail conditions.

Thomas' bail conditions include: no contact with any of the three women; if there is a permanent address change or international travel, the police must be notified.

These allegations stem from a criminal investigation launched by the police after receiving the first rape report in February 2022. Thomas' attorney Jenny Wilt Hill had previously said Thomas denied all charges and added that he welcomed the opportunity to clear his reputation.

It is reported that Thomas is currently preparing to join La Liga team Villarreal, signing for one year, and with a one-year renewal option.
