Manchester United and Brentford are in discussions about Brian Mbemo's transfer; Sky Sports News learned that Brentford wants a £65m package deal, but so far, the offer from Manchester United has risen to £62.5m; Giles said Mbemo would be "happy to stay in Brentford"

Brentford football director Phil Giles said that if a deal cannot be reached with Manchester United, Brian Mbemo would be happy to stay at the club. The two clubs have already negotiated and Mbemo is said to be more willing to move to Old Trafford, although Tottenham has appointed his former boss, Thomas Frank.

Sky Sports News learned that Brentford hopes to pay more than £65m for Mbemo, while Manchester United has so far offered a package of up to £62.5m. In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports News, Giles explained that there is a deal to be completed; however, it has to be "right" for Brentford.

"People have a great interest in Bryan. His current preferences are well known," Giles said. “He had an incredible season and we expected to be interested in him. As far as I know, he is also happy to stay in Brentford next year if needed.

“We have spoken with Bryan and his representatives. He won't leave this summer. "If we get the right offer, it's possible to make a deal, but we can only say so much now."

Andrews: Mbemo staying is ideal

Keith Andrews spoke for the first time since coaching Brentford, responding to Giles' position on Mbemo, saying it would be "ideal" if the striker stays.

"If he stayed, it would be a huge push," Andrews said. “He is such a talented player. I love working with him and I worked closely with him last season on set pieces, so that would be the ideal situation. “I want the most talented players in the building. I understand the way football and this football club operates in terms of transfers, but in the end, I want the best players in the building.

Sky Sports News learned that Brentford captain Christian Norgaard is expected to undergo a medical check-up this week after Arsenal signed the midfielder last week after a £15m deal with the Bees. Andrews praised the Danish midfielder and then the 31-year-old made an "amazing transfer."

Keith Andrews talks about Christian Norgaard

Brentford coach Keith Andrews talks about how much impact Christian Norgaard's departure will have on the club, but he said he hopes for the best help for the Danish midfielder

"Of course, he will miss it," Andrews said. "For him, it would be an amazing transfer if he could play in the Champions League at a club of this size." I would miss him because I value him very much. "Christian has played a key role in the modern history of football clubs; he has been wearing armbands for many years now. He is someone I admire and really understand his abilities and what he brings on and off the court.

Mbemo may leave and Norgard is about to move to North London, which will leave Brentford's roster vacant to be filled. When asked if the club would seek a transfer market to support the position, Andrews said:

"For me, it has been about the players in the building; it has to be a priority." Now there are some players in the building with a lot of space to enter a new level. I firmly believe in this, and the club has proved every season that if the player leaves, the player will come in, and I really have a strong trust in this department.
