Chelsea agrees to sign Joao Pedro worth up to £60m from Brighton; the forward will sign a seven-year contract with the Blues; the Brazilian will fly to the United States for a medical examination and participate in the Club World Cup with Chelsea; Pedro may make his Chelsea debut in the quarterfinal against Palmeiras on Saturday

Chelsea have reached a deal worth up to £60m for Brighton striker Joao Pedro. The 23-year-old has already signed a seven-year contract with Chelsea to fly from Brazil to the U.S. for a medical check-up and join Enzo Maresca's side in the FFC World Cup.

Pedro will be able to represent Chelsea in the World Cup as the club can register for players from June 27 to July 3. This means the Brazil international will likely make his Chelsea debut in the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup, and Pedro may play against Palmeiras in Philadelphia on Friday, which will kick off at 2 a.m. British time on Saturday.

Pedro's transfer was conducted with Chelsea's good relationship with Brighton, who has terms for sale in the deal.

The Blues regard Pedro as an all-round forward who can play No. 9 and forward. Newcastle is also interested in Pedro and rejected a bid of about £50m last week. It is understood that Pedro only wants to play for Chelsea.

João Pedro will leave Brighton this summer to join Chelsea

Watford sold Pedro to Brighton in 2023 for £35m, and he will receive 20% of the profit in the deal. Chelsea are also about to sign Jamie Gittens from Dortmund. Gittens will sign a seven-year contract with Chelsea after completing the medical examination. The 20-year-old’s cost is 65m euros (£55.5m).

Gittens will not be allowed to represent Chelsea in the Floor World Cup, and he has participated in the first group match between Dortmund and Fluminense.
