Nims, who was still in Ligue 1 at this time in 2021, were relegated to the fourth-level French league. Nimes was demoted to Legal B in 2021 and to Legal C in 2023, and now it is downgraded by another level.

Nims was founded in 1937 and was a powerful challenger for Reims in the 1950s. During that period, he won the second second in the Ligue 1 season and two second-place runner-ups in the French Cup. In the team, Hassan Akesbi, Bernard Rahis and other ace scorers from North Africa. In the early 1990s, Eric Cantoner and Lauren Blanke both played for Nimes for one season.

In 2016, major shareholder Asani became the club chairman. In 2018, the team successfully advanced to Ligue 1 and won the ninth place in the 2018/19 season. But with the departure of powerful players such as Savenier and the turmoil in the club's management, the team was demoted to Class B in 2021 and continued to fall. In 2022, the team moved away from the Costier Stadium, which was planned to be rebuilt on the original site, and temporarily moved to the Anthony Stadium, which took half a year to build, as the transitional home court. Embarrassingly, the local government later rejected the plan to demolish the Costier Stadium and rebuild the original site, so the Costier Stadium had to be abandoned (Figure 2).
