Manchester United s second acquisition starts, giving Premier League teams its first offer

Manchester United has officially submitted its first offer to Brentford club, marking another important move in their transfer market this summer.

Manchester United regards the Cameroon international as one of the key targets for signing this summer. According to The Athletic, the Red Devils have made a £55 million offer, including a £45 million basic transfer fee and £10 million additional terms. However, this offer has not met Brentford's psychological expectations. It is reported that the team priced Mbeumo for more than 60 million pounds.

Mbeumo himself prefers to join Manchester United. He is said to be willing to go to Old Trafford if the deal can be reached. The two sides are still negotiating. Although Newcastle United, Tottenham and Arsenal have also had contact with Mbeumo before, the players have made it clear that he will prioritize Manchester United's options.

However, another key to transfer is salary negotiations. According to the Times, Mbeumo hopes to increase his salary to five times the current level after joining Manchester United. The 25-year-old earns £50,000 a week at Brentford, and he expects to earn up to £250,000 at Manchester United, which will put him among the highest-paid players on the team.

Brentford coach Thomas Frank had previously publicly stated that the team would not prevent Mbeumo from leaving the team if the right offer was received. "We know his value, and if he leaves, it must be a very considerable transfer fee. It is obvious that it is difficult to find a replacement that is comparable to his ability."

In the just-concluded 2024/25 season, Mbeumo performed well, representing Brentford in the Premier League, contributing 20 goals and 8 assists, and is a key figure in the team's successful relegation.

It is worth mentioning that before pursuing Mbeumo, Manchester United had recently signed Mattus Cunha for 62.5 million pounds, whose weekly salary was as high as 200,000 pounds, showing the Red Devils' determination to rebuild their forward line this summer.

At present, Manchester United is actively strengthening its lineup in order to qualify for the Champions League next season and be more competitive.
