Tuchel style extreme training exposed: England team swallows chips + sealed tents simulate World Cup high temperature

In Girona, Spain, although the temperature was only 26℃ on Friday, England coach Thomas Tuchel has begun preparing for the hot climate of the 2026 US, Canada and Mexico World Cup. Although Saturday was just a World Cup qualifier against Andorra (sheld in Barcelona), Tuchel still arranged an extremely rigorous end-of-season physical fitness test for the players.

This training set is very special: players need to swallow a biometric chip (capsule) first so that the FA medical team can accurately read their physical data under extreme stress. The team members were then arranged to enter a closed tent and ride for 45 minutes in a stuffy environment for high-intensity bicycle training - a comprehensive challenge to heart rate, body temperature, and endurance.

26-year-old Crystal Palace striker Eze recalled: "After swallowing that chip, you have to ride on the bike for about 45 minutes, and you can't stop at all. They will monitor your heart rate and core body temperature in real time. It's really hard, and riding for 45 minutes is a long time. But it really makes me know myself better and know my reaction in the extreme state. This is the first time I tried this kind of test, which is quite interesting."

Chelsea forward and 23-year-old Cole Palmer also said: "It's really difficult. The temperature in the tent reached 36℃. We have to reach a certain power indicator on the bike and maintain it for a period of time. The physical pressure is extremely high."

29-year-old striker Ivan Tony is now playing in Saudi Arabia, and he is no stranger to the high-temperature competition environment. He said: "You can't run all over the course of 90 minutes. You have to choose more tactical when to run. This will affect the way you play - but that's great. I've adapted slowly. You have to learn to slow down or to keep the ball and keep your energy."

England is currently stationed at the Camillar Golf and Health Centre, a high-end golf resort outside Girona, which will host the Ryder Cup in 2031. The players also relaxed after arriving and watched the F1 game in Barcelona on Sunday. It is reported that Guardiola and Zola also played golf here a few days ago, and this was Girona's training base, and Manchester City and Brighton also chose to live here during the preseason.

England will stay in the area until Friday afternoon, then move to Barcelona to prepare for the final match against Andorra. They will also face Senegal at Nottingham City Stadium next Tuesday for a friendly match.

Eze is currently in a hot state in the national team. He scored his national team's first goal against Latvia in March, helping England win 3-0. "That was a special moment. That goal made me feel a lot more confident, and then this confidence continued throughout the season, which was positive for me and Crystal Palace."

Eze showed an unstoppable smile when he defeated Manchester City and won the FA Cup in a historic manner. "For me, the most special thing is the expression you see when you communicate with the fans. You will truly understand what this victory means to them. It is of course great to win as a player, and it is also special to be a member of the first team in team history to win. But only if you really interact with the fans can you understand how important this is."

As for whether you will continue to play for Crystal Palace in the future, Eze keeps a low profile. Many clubs including Tottenham Hotspur are interested in him. "I haven't thought too much at the moment. I'm now in the England national team training camp, and everything is here. As for the future, that's what to consider later."
