West Brom Official: Chelsea defender Gilchrist joins, transfer fee of £2 million

Hupu, August 29, West Brom officially announced that he had signed right-back Alfie Gilchrist from Chelsea, and the transfer fee was not disclosed.

The 21-year-old has made 17 appearances for the West London club and signed a four-year contract with the Hawthorn Stadium.

After One Hegbo, Nat Phillips, George Campbell, Christian Belic, Toby Collier and Chris Mapham, he became West Bromwich's seventh signing player in the summer transfer window.

Gilchrist joined Sheffield United, the same Championship team, on loan last season, and made 32 appearances for the "Blades".

Alfi Gilchrist stood outside the training ground, holding the West Bromwich jersey in his hand and smiling at the camera.

Sports Director Andrew Nester said: "Alfi knows the league very well. He joined the Championship on loan last season and has been improving since then.

His joining strengthens our defensive roster and we now have a healthy combination of relatively young but experienced players and players with unlimited potential. We are excited about the player selection here and think each of them has the physical and technical fitness and skills that are suitable for this level and even higher."
