Suing LeBron James fans: I didn’t want to extort money, I could have asked for mental damages

Basketball

On October 12, a fan who paid a premium for tickets to the Los Angeles Lakers’ final regular season game of the new season is suing James, demanding a refund of the ticket purchase fee.

Previously, James released a video preview on social media, saying that he would make "decision two." As soon as the trailer came out, the outside world speculated whether James would declare that the new season would be the last season of his career. At the same time, the cheapest ticket for the Lakers' final regular season game rose from $85 to $445. As a result, the full version of the video was released the next day, and James' "decision two" was just a drink advertisement.

The fan who sued James said: "When I saw the trailer, I really believed that James would retire, and many people were like me. There was no sign in the trailer that it was an advertisement. ... I didn't mention mental damages in the indictment, but it should have been written. I didn't want to extort money, I just wanted the money back. I have never been the kind of person who takes advantage of opportunities to make money."
