La Liga 25/26 season schedule: Opening match on August 17, closing on May 24

June 7th, the Spanish Football Association announced the schedule for the 25/26 La Liga and Serie A.S. The opening match will start on the weekend of August 17, and the final match will be on the weekend of May 24th.

Since the 2019/20 season, La Liga has been using an asymmetric free schedule, which means that the match schedules for each round are different. The main purpose of this model is to better meet various factors such as security, European schedule, club needs, venue construction, holidays, and large-scale events, so as to maximize the number of viewers on site and TV broadcast ratings.

Spanish Second Division upgrade play-off time: June 7 to June 21, 2026.

25/26 season international match day arrangements (5 times in total):

September 1 (Monday) to 9 (Tuesday),

October 6 (Monday) to 14 (Tuesday),

November 10 (Monday) to 18 (Tuesday),

March 23 (Monday) to 31 (Tuesday),

June 1 (Monday) to 9 (Tuesday),

Midweek match schedule:

La Liga will arrange 3 rounds of midweek matches.

Spanish League Two will arrange a midweek match.

Winter break schedule:

The weekend from December 21, 2025 to January 4, 2026
