Manchester United director: The atmosphere in the team has remained the same; we must continue to invest in the squad

Hupu News on October 31 Before Manchester United played against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, Manchester United Football Director Jason Wilcox went to the Carrington base to watch the training and was interviewed by the club's official TV station.

Reporter: Jason, the weather in Carrington is very good today. After the team won three consecutive Premier League victories, the atmosphere in the team seems to be particularly good.

Willcox: To be honest, the atmosphere of the team has not changed. Of course we are disappointed when we lose, like the game against Brentford where we were very dissatisfied with our performance, but in other games we actually had a lot of really good moments where we saw clear improvement.

What we have to do now is to maintain this momentum, not to be complacent when we win, and not to be too frustrated when we lose. We know we are improving and the weekend games will be equally tough. Ruben (Amorim) and the players will be fully prepared. We also understand the situation at Nottingham Forest - they have a new coach and the team has a good lineup. Everyone saw it last year. This game is definitely a tough battle for us.

Reporter: The new players seem to have integrated well into the team, fit in with the club's culture, and are truly committed to it. The ability to introduce players of this level in the summer is inseparable from everyone's efforts.

Wilcox: Yeah, these guys adapt very quickly. Especially Matthäus (Cunha) and Brian (Mbemo), they have experience in the Premier League and have also lived in England, so the transition period is relatively shorter.

The adaptation of Benjamin (Sheshko) and Senna (Lamens) also exceeded expectations and we are very satisfied. They are two young players who are the future of the team but have now integrated amazingly into the team. They are all great people, including the players who joined last summer, top professional players.

What we have to do now is to turn this good state into more wins. We are very optimistic that the team is moving in the right direction and we have a clear plan. Of course, there will inevitably be twists and turns on the way forward, but no matter what the outside world says, we must remain calm.

I am at the training site every day, and I can see the players’ training intensity, dedication, and their communication and relationship patterns. At a club like Manchester United, losing is always disappointing, it's inevitable.

Reporter: You and the team made it clear in the summer that the team needs to strengthen its scoring ability. Now the goals have finally begun to come in one after another. You must be proud of this, right? And whether it is at Old Trafford or away from home, we can see the results of these signings.

Wilcox: Of course. We have brought in some very talented players who are good at creating chances and scoring goals, but it is not just the strikers who score the goals. This has something to do with our offensive organization, and the tactical ideas and methods of creating opportunities that Ruben polishes with the players every day.

Now we are creating a lot of chances, which are finally starting to translate into goals, but we have to keep it up. We have already achieved three consecutive victories, and we will strive for four consecutive victories next. The only way to get the club back to the top is to keep raising the bar and the players and Ruben are working towards that every day.

Reporter: You mentioned the next game against Forest. How is the current preparation for the game?

Wilcox: The preparations for the war are going very well. The players resumed training on Sunday and had a rest on Monday. They are now fully preparing for this game and are familiar with the Forest team's playing style and characteristics.

They have a new coach, so it's difficult to judge entirely based on their previous performance, but at the end of the day, they have good players and the home fans will fully support them.

The important thing for us is to compete with all our strength from the beginning of the game and then adjust based on the situation on the court.

Reporter: Last question, the Christmas schedule is approaching. Judging from your playing career, this is the busiest period of the year for players. How is the team currently preparing for its long-term planning for this intensive schedule?

Wilcox: We have a clear plan and know what we need to do. To enter the top four, securely qualify for the Champions League, or even win the Champions League and Premier League championships, the team still has a lot to improve.

We must continue to invest in the lineup and bring in the right players - not only talented, but also able to withstand pressure and push the team forward. Recruitment is not only about top quality, but also about the character of the players and whether they can bring unique value to the team.

We are very satisfied with the current situation, but we also know that we must continue to make progress. Neither the players nor Ruben nor myself are ever satisfied, it is in our nature to always seek improvement.

I think anyone working at Manchester United should think this way, and in fact, under the high standards we continue to implement, everyone does so.
