Manchester United enters constructive negotiations for demolition around stadium, close to securing land ownership

Hupu, October 16th: According to a sudden report from the famous Daily Mail reporter Mike Keegan, Manchester United is confident in the acquisition of land around Old Trafford Stadium, which will pave the way for the construction of a new stadium.

The Premier League giants' plans to build a state-of-the-art 100,000-seat stadium have been complicated by an ongoing dispute with shipping company Freightliner. Fletner owns a significant piece of adjacent land behind the Stretford Stand.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United has bid about 50 million pounds, and the asking price of 400 million pounds proposed by Fleiner Company is unrealistic in their view.

The club believes that a compulsory purchase order may eventually be issued, at which time the government will step in to determine a fair price.

However, it has been revealed that Manchester United officials have now engaged in allegedly "constructive" negotiations with Fletner and are optimistic about reaching an agreement "within the next few months."

If the deal is agreed, it would mean United can move ahead with plans drawn up by Lord Foster for a futuristic complex that will feature a huge canopy to protect visitors from Manchester's harsh climate.

The land owned by Fleener has been earmarked as part of the stadium's footprint, which contains 17,000 residential homes.

Manchester United have been considering alternatives following the collapse of the land deal, but are not believed to have developed an alternative. Fleener may be aware of Manchester United's eagerness and has been waiting for a windfall.

In August this year, Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said that his office would be able to exercise compulsory purchase powers through the Mayor's Development Corporation "if necessary". Burnham was a leading advocate of the plan, which included a massive redevelopment plan.

With United being pressed for time, this situation could be time consuming and it may be in the interests of all parties to reach an agreement.

Manchester United are seeking government funding for wider infrastructure, but the funding for the stadium will be borne by them themselves.
