Tottenham goalkeeper Whiteman: Colorful life beyond football
Recommended Network June 13: Tottenham goalkeeper Whiteman left the team, and the versatile started a new journey
The Daily Mail recently reported that goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman, who left the team this summer, has attracted a lot of attention despite his limited chances in the football field, with his colorful side jobs. The 26-year-old youth training player joined Tottenham ten years ago and promoted to the first team in 2017, but in addition to winning an 8-minute Europa League opportunity under Mourinho in 2020, he has never been able to get more opportunities for official matches at Tottenham.
Nevertheless, Whiteman was not discouraged by the dullness of his football career. He showed his versatility outside the stadium: he is a DJ, a photographer, an actor, and even hosts a movie club. Whiteman was born only 20 minutes' drive from Tottenham's home court Bailu Lane. He grew up in Tottenham's youth training system and was deeply influenced by the team's culture. Although he did not make a debut in the team's UEFA Champions League, he also won the championship medal with his efforts in daily training. After winning the championship, he said: "The competition is seen by the public, but you are also part of the team in daily training. My Wikipedia page appearance column may be blank, but we would not have reached the finals if the whole team was not united. I feel very lucky, but I always longed to make it."
Whiteman's artistic talent comes from his father, a jazz guitarist. He often plays DV for local radio station NTS and participated in the plays of the Bomb Factory Theater in London last summer. His personal photography collection is about to be exhibited, and he has also left many sharp reviews on the film review website Letterboxd. Whiteman admitted to The Athletic: "I have always separated my private life from football. The prejudice that players should focus on playing football is purely a fallacy. Life needs multidimensional stimulation to be complete." Despite the rich side jobs, the goalkeeper who is eager to play formally is still looking for a new owner. During his unemployment, his colorful life made him never worry about pastime.
