Bayern official: Dell s contract expires and leaves the team this summer
Sports Weekly All Media Original
Bayern issued an official announcement confirming that 31-year-old England defender Eric Dell left the team this summer.
Dell left Tottenham in January 2024 and joined Bayern on loan. In the summer window of 2024, Dell signed with Bayern for another one year as a free agent.
Regarding Dell's decision to leave the team, Bayern sports director Froind previously said, "We had negotiated with Eric about the new contract. He told us that he did not want to renew his contract, he wanted to leave Bayern. He is a great player and we have worked with him very happily. I hope he can win the first championship of his career."
Dell left Sporting Lisbon in 2014 to join Tottenham. Since then, he has the same career trajectory as Kane, both of whom have joined Bayern after leaving Tottenham. Like Kane, Dell has not won the official championship in his career. He has won the second place in the League Cup twice with Tottenham and also won the second place in the Champions League with Tottenham in the 2018-19 season.
Dell has played 45 games for Bayern so far, contributing 2 goals. Dell is not at the top of Bayern's central defender, but due to the continuous injury situation in the past two seasons, he still has a lot of playing time. Bayern will play away against Leipzig RB this Saturday, and Bayern will win the championship if he wins. If Leverkusen fails to win this round, Bayern can lock in the Bundesliga championship regardless of the results. Dell is also expected to win his first career championship with Kane.
Previously, French media "League" stated that Monaco has reached an agreement with Dell, and Dell will join Monaco this summer. Monaco will offer Dell a contract for at least two years, and Dell's salary will also be improved. In addition, Dell will also get more playing time in Monaco.
