Despite this, Condy held on to his point of view and pointed out that Odgao's significant decline in performance this season is a key reason why his captain's status is questioned, although he also admitted that the Norwegian was plagued by injuries. The two disagree on whether Odgao's captain status should be deprived of. Condy explained that this decision could turn Arsenal from a contender into a champion: “If you want to be a winner, that’s the decision you need to make.” O’Hara responded: “But that will kill his leadership.” Condy reminded O’Hara that he had questioned whether Odge should start, and O’Hara responded: “I said it’s something to discuss. If he’s not performing well, you can replace him, but that doesn’t mean he’s not the captain.”

Ultimately, Condy said he “doesn’t care” who will wear Arsenal’s captain’s armband in the future: “But if I were Arteta, I would consider giving Rice the captain’s armband.”
